Really struggling today… Feeling like my sobriety is a huge bother or burden to others. I feel like it’s so inconvenient for my friends… I really wish I had more sober friends. I’ve met some really great people on here but nobody near me so I still feel so alone. I know if my sobriety is not the #1 priority I will relapse and put myself into an early grave. I wish people could understand that. Sorry for my rambling thoughts I just had to get this off my chest…Sober emotions are so intense!
Hang tight!! Are you coming to book club tonight?
There is never a reason to use again. Things are guaranteed to get better if you don’t pick up. Just gotta let time do it’s job.
Book club??
I know you are right. I’m just sad and lonely and tired I guess.
I messaged you
I wish I had a mom like that. That’s good you can abstain from drinking when others are around you. That’s really awesome.
My dad and brother won’t drink around me. They are absolutely not alcoholic. My brother is 2 beers a week and maybe take a hit off a joint at a phish show a couple times a year. My dad has the nickname 1 beer bob from his golfing buddies. He doesn’t drink on the course and has 1 after.
I cannot imagine being able to do that.
Hi Arianna! Sending you a big hug. That feeling of being a burden can be heavy. All I have to say is that if your friends feel you are a burden then they aren’t really your friends, because real friends want what’s best for you, and will go to any lengths to support you in that endeavor. I know that may not be the easiest thing to hear at this moment when you are seeking connection. I completely separated myself from all friends except for one for my first six months of sobriety. This way I could become firm and sure of myself, so that when I was faced with someone pushing against my sobriety I knew exactly where I stood. Maybe take some time and space away from your friends, they will see that you’re serious. To be honest my first sober friends didn’t come until a couple years into my sobriety. I became very comfortable with solitude, maybe too comfortable. Just stay sober today, these feelings are temporary. Wake up in the morning and reach out to another sober person and come up with a plan on how to tackle this with fresh eyes, you have so much support on here and so many people willing to help.
Wow such beautiful feedback. I know it’s for Ariana but I needed to see this.
thank you
This was exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you. Words of wisdom.
That’s great. I’m too new to this so I can’t be around it. But it’s not just the physical aspect of the alcohol. It’s the emotional part where I’m too much for my friends to deal with. I think I’m going to do what Jenn said and keep more to myself right now, at least with people in person. I appreciate all the support on here though. This community is amazing
I go to AA meetings and we all hang out and go bowling, play pickle ball watch football and many other things together besides meetings. Maybe you can try an AA meeting if you haven’t. The fellowship is fun
That’s awesome. I’ve tried a few meetings so far. Haven’t really found my people yet I feel like. Also I’ve been sick most of my recovery so far so I haven’t really gone anywhere. But your group sounds amazing
Our life’s are inconvenient to others who don’t get it but you’re doing the right thing Identifying your problems and express your feeling to whoever just don’t do it to the walls accept who you are that help plp understand in due time. What work for me is I’m not caring how long it take to get where I’m going some plp need to be praised to feel like I’m doing the right thing or feel good so wwfm (what work for me) I mindfick my self try praising everything trun all the - into + I do and take ur time if u rush everything there won’t be anything at the end to look forward too. Be happy just to have control of your life I am enjoying the fact my addiction isn’t going anywhere but I am
That’s great that you are finding something that works for you!
How about asking each one of your friends at separate times..
“Wanna go to a meeting with me or check out this new app I’m on?”
It’s a good way to find out who wants to be apart of your life (recovery)
Arianna did you base your drink pill or fix on wether others wanted to take part or not? or did what you felt was necessary at that time?
Recovery is a total different life style then what we are use to. We start to find out what we thought was comfort really was discomfort, loyalty really was dis-loyalty, honesty dishonesty and so on.
“Chase your recovery like you chased your drink pill or fix”
Your not alone in this sweetie..
Plenty of beautiful people on here that are more than willing to walk with you.. they will not walk for you and neither will those that were willing to ok your self sabotage of addiction.
Same effort you put into your addiction put it onto recovery.
What do they have to offer that others in recovery don’t?

Thank you. Good advice.
Keep patience and faith. Things will be ok.
Keep doing what you're doing! Keep reaching out sweetie! Just do you and the rest will fall into place! I'm be praying for you in the meantime! Here if ya ever wanna chat!
