Relapse

How do you guys get yourself motivated after relapse? I’m 6 days clean again, and it’s just really tough to get back into the best state of mind

Reading the entire Bible. It not only chews up time, which is crucial, but also fills your soul and brings a deep inner peace.

I am 5 days after my relapse. I just remind myself that there is no event/experience that was made better from drinking. It was fun, till it wasn’t anymore.

I truly believe it is a balance of mind, spirit, body and community. These were my tools. Read quit lit. Blogs. Listen to podcasts. Make connections even if online with others recovering. Join This Naked Mind Alcohol Experiment community. Move every day, walks and yoga and hikes. Therapy. Meditation (I’m still bad at it!!) Nutrition. Throw yourself into non alcohol related things and you’ll find yourself healing.

Go to a meeting AA/NA get connected with like minded people who can help you stay sober. For me, I know I can't do it alone. Took a couple of relapses for me to realize that.

Listen to Donnie. Get your a$$ into AA meetings and hang out with some people who know what you're going through. Just keep doing that. Don't worry about the 12 steps or any of that stuff right now. Just focus on staying sober, one day at a time. As corny as that sounds, it's really true. Just hang out, listen to people's experiences, find common ground, and take it easy.

This is largely nonsense.

Okay, aside from reading the Bible taking up a lot of time, that part is true. But....

Have you read the Bible? Maybe we differ on what "inner peace" and being relaxed is. But I find nothing relaxing about all the killing and dying and sacrificing of children and, well ALL of Revelations. Tru, there is a lot of good "advice" withing the pages of it. And if I had to guess, there are probably about100 solid parts that believers quote whenever they need to feel better. I can dig it. But reading the Bible "cover to cover' as you have said about 9 times today would probably just confuse, or even terrify (if someone is paying attention to what they are reading and able to decipher the gobbledygook.)

People are dying out here from this disease. People need reasonable ways and solid methods of getting and staying sober. They don't need to be confused or terrified.

Seek God through whatever means. It works.

Hard work only = "works"

With god + hard work = works.

With just god? = Obviously doesn't work.

Thousands of addicts believe in god and that belief got them nowhere until they started putting in hard work to have a better life.

Taylor you're trolling a sobriety app which is pretty low. If you want to belittle people's advice and opinions go to Twitter.

Just because someone disagrees with you, doesn't mean that it's "trolling". Calling someone a "troll" is just a way of using a buzzword to try and discredit what they are saying, so you don't have to consider it at all.

I do my part here and offline. I am ALWAYS building up the strugglers. Always. I'm down for the addicts and drunks and beaten down. I don't mince words and I don't büllshit people with a bunch of nonsense.

Let's end this argument in this fellas post.

Sometimes not being in the best state of mind is just where we need to be. As sucky as it feels. I’m going through a grey phase right now. But I like to think this is where the resiliency is built. That even when it isn’t all light and love and blue skies, I can commit myself again and again, moment by moment to sobriety because any other option is a shortcut to infinitely more suffering. To sit in the discomfort and trust it will pass. And in the meantime work on developing better mechanisms and connections to fortify what I know I need to do. Which is only one thing. Stay sober.

What’s your advice than?

Be easy on yourself. One day at a time and before you know it you’ll be feeling better. At least you didn’t give in and keep using ! Im proud of you for getting back up

I'm not a devil worshipper and I am not miserable.

And I have given my advice. It's up there, if you look for it.

Also, I'd like to point out that not one of you three trying to argue with me have come up with any valid points. Just some weak a$$ insults and some stale tshirt slogans from the church bake sale.

God is our only hope.. let not hope be ashamed
