I am a chronic relapser and I just hit 90 days again and I am so scared and nervous.
Hi Kimberly, stay and focus on staying sober today. 3 months is a huge accomplishment. Keep putting one foot in front of the other and you will do great.
90 days is so amazing
take a deep breath. Distract your brain when it goes to scary thoughts. What's your next milestone goal? Don't give up on you amazing progress.
Congratulations take it one day at a time
90 days is huge, congratulations. Keep doing what you've been doing and keep moving forward. You've got this. We are never defined by our past.
Chronic relapse here too.....so many of us are honestly 🤷. I just try to learn something each time (i.e. a trigger to avoid, or a behavioral tool from rehab). The most important thing for long-term sobriety as a chronic relapse is to identify the relapse, or "slip" , as soon as possible and seek help. Limiting that duration of the relapse is key. I used to go full hog for a month or two , but last one was a weekend. It's so much easier to get back in to sober stride if you just face the relapse ASAP. Good luck and congrats on 90 days
6 months is have done it one more time that is what I’m looking forward to
Thank you
Thank you so much for the advice I caught my last one and it was only one day so I’m learning
90 days is huge to us. I have many desire chips, I could stop drinking but I couldn’t stop starting again. I started service at my home group at 90 days if you go to AA. Chairing meetings helped me find some purpose and give back. If you don’t go to AA, that’s cool too, take it a day at a time, sometimes I took it an hour at a time. It really gets better, not always easy, but always better. The fear is natural, don’t listen to your mind, and try something new that might be uncomfortable. I found great growth in doing a few things that my mind told me not to do but I showed up anyway. Many of us have been there, call people with less time than you and ask them how they are doing, and listen. Stay in the solution
Congratulations on 90 days, Kimberly!
Play that tape forward in regards to cravings.
They last for around fifteen minutes ( I read a while back )-look up cravings and how to manage them, if you feel like…another way to also distract one’s own self.
Try to pause and think of how you will feel after relapsing - I will not drink with you today / tonight. Rooting for you, Kimberly!
Yes 90 days!! Ok so I'm the same! 60 days is my typical relapse time and I'm coming up. For me, I'm not focusing on long term but literally day by day. I hate to sound AA cliche but the saying "one day at a time" works. Sometimes we even need one hour at a time! I would try to have sober people you can reach out to also. Myself included! And for me I am trying to stay busy. But like cleaning, work, reading, movies busy. Not going out partying with friends busy lol. You got this!
There is no time to RELAPSE. YOU ALREADY DID THAT. IT DOESN'T WORK ANY MORE. Now it is Time to fight through this process. You can do this. You got to want it Bad enough. Remember. You no longer have a Drinking career. You have a THINKING CAREER. BE A STUDENT OF YOUR RECOVERY AND YOU WILL HAVE IT. THE DREAM. THE STRUGGLE. AND THE PRIZE
Turn that into a CHRONIC MEETING GOER. REMEMBER. DRINKING IS A SYMPTOM AND NOT THE REAL PROBLEM. YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR SITUATION BY CHANGING YOUR THINKING. YOU CAN DO THIS
All of those emotions are perfectly normal. Work through them. You can do this
You have to have a higher power, with me is God read the big book, and go to meetings and lean on your sponsor
90 days is great. Don't defeat yourself in your mind! That's half the battle
Stay focused
