Scared of Withdrawal

Take time for you everyday. Even if it’s only for a few minutes. I quit because I was a binge drinker. 10 beers then bottle of Jager. My tolerance was very high. I found by reading, coloring and having a place to go that’s just yours and yours alone. If you have the strength to run your family’s large business, kudos to you on that, there’s strength inside to give sobriety a serious run. If you fall off the horse, get back on. You have a great support network here! Good on you for recognizing that you need to do something. That’s a huge step!

Well I just went through it 28 days ago. And it can be deadly without professional help. It took me about 5 days to make it out the other side. 3 days to get full use of my hands they were shaking so badly. I woke up completely soaked for 5 days from sweating so bad. And now the good news. I don’t ever have to go through that again. Hit some meetings get a sponsor work the steps! Praying for you Jill!

You’re a strong woman and I’m glad that you’ve been so bold to ask for help during this season, I know that it’s hard feeling like there is no hope but there is when you focus on one day at a time and continuing to move forward. We are never promised tomorrow but there is hope for the future with the best possible version of yourself! Keep reaching out, and when you’re feeling like you need a break or just want to relax I promise you reaching out will help. We all have a voice but if you don’t say anything we won’t know how you’re doing.

I did okay at first, but my ex and multiple other things ended up becoming major triggers.

I decided to go to rehab, but my work paid my way so it was an easy decision.

Tapering does work if you have a plan in place and follow it.

Wow I’m so relieved that you are through it… thank you so much for bravely sharing… and especially for the prayers :pray:t3:

Look into The Sinclair Method. It uses an opioid blocker called Naltrexone to help you cut back and quit. It's not as immediate as detox(it took me about 6 months to quit completely), but it cut my drinking back ~80% in the first month from 450-500 drinks per month to just 83, and it steadily decreased from there. It works by blocking dopamine from being released when you drink, which slowly rewires your brain to no longer crave alcohol like you used to.

It doesn't work for everyone, but depending on what your goals are it might be worth looking into. Medical detox is great as well if you need something more immediate, but for me it only kept me sober for for two weeks before I relapsed and needed to try something else to keep me sober.

Wow Andrew thank you this is so helpful… I will ask the OP facility at my appointment this week about this method/ if they can prescribe some of that medicine… did you notice any side effects from the Naltrexone?

Thank you Kelly :pray:t3: I actually have some CBD oil but haven’t used it in ages! I’d forgotten about it, and will add that into my daily routine.

Hi Jill. Hope things are a little better for you. Small steps. Good on you.❤️‍🩹

I tried to wean off alcohol and had a grand mal seizure. You need to get your dr to give you something so that doesn’t happen to you . My doctor gave me Librium and I took it at home and did fine. You got this just consult your primary care physician!!

Be careful it’s an addictive med to so just use as directed or have someone give them to you
