Sleep for mind

Does anyone else sleep to avoid the thoughts?

Yep even 2 years in there are days.

What?

Days I hide in sleep to avoid thoughts of using.

Never mind. Lol I re-read it a couple of times and it makes sense now. :joy:

Agreed. Though mine are just thoughts in general. Not really ever about using.

Those too.

I used to, but now I face them head on. I found it is better to get them out and deal sooner rather than let them deep into my soul and bring me down. Hope all gets better for you!

Thanks Tim. Easier said than done that’s for sure. A work in progress! :raised_hands:

It’s the thoughts that keep me awake. Sleeping is the hardest part so far. Maybe it’s still too new 7 months in, but insomnia is my new worst friend.

Have you tried anything to help with sleeping?

Not really. I’m wary of sleep aids. Just try to rest as much as I can.

Nope. I use sleep to recover. For the longest time sleep was accompanied with night terrors. I'd come straight out of a deep sleep to flat out panic attack. Got so bad I started sleeping with the lights on. But after my brain chemistry began to stabilize from being sober (funny brains can recover to) it dissipated. Now at 59 I sleep straight 9 sometimes 10 hours of pure beauty sleep. It's absolutely healing .

I wish you the best! Hopefully it gets better with time. As they say.

Wowza! That’s amazing. And a lot of sleep. I’ve noticed with sobriety that I can’t do more than 6 hours of sleep. Otherwise I’m groggy and just want to be lazy. 4-6 is golden time for me.

Yeeeeaaaahhhhh….they say a lot:neutral_face::roll_eyes::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’ve always struggled with mental health, so I do this a lot. It’s always been a coping mechanism for things that are emotionally and mentally exhausting. I try to avoid it as much as possible now that I’m in a much better place.

Yes. It’s like a coping mechanism for me also.

It sucks! :smirk:

I’ve been taking trazodone. Some times it gives
