SO LOST. Any connections or advice would be so appreciated πŸ˜”

Hi Quinton. For me socializing in the early days we're ROUGH.... I have social anxiety and alcohol was my crutch. For me, it meant always having a beverage in my hand. Usually a ginger ale or triple extra large Starbucks refresher lol. It worked for me because I had realized that part of my reliance with drinking in social situations was always having to have a drink my hand. So swapping it out for something non alcoholic helped me. I was always so scared people would notice but the truth is - once they're all buzzed they have no clue you're sober so it doesn't even come up. Also - I learned to leave the function early before people get wasted. And a lot of times I still avoid happy hours altogether - and I'm ok with it. It's a work in progress but you'll get there :grinning:.

Also being on an app was CRUCIAL for me in the early days. It has since shut down but a lot of us are here from Sober Grid. The connections have really helped me especially since I personally am not comfortable with AA.

Have you checked out AA? It is not what I thought it was. It saved my life, and now I have a network of sober friends.
