Hi Erin! I am in the exact same situation and started my non- alcohol journey a few days ago. I frequent the Albany area and would love to connect if you’re interested 
I know exactly how you feel. The temptation can be unbearable sometimes. Faith and one day at a time is what I keep telling me self.

As far as feeling alone, that can lead you into premature relationships, we as alcoholics
Seem to feel very lonely in tge early evenings, full moons and after the meetings can be very rough, in my experience over tge years, single alcoholic even with years behind you can feel lonely, its finding friends, collect phone numbers, call people from the rooms, work with a sponcer,

I agree with you Erin. I am a chef and it's very hard for me everyday having alcohol around me and friends who just want to go out to drink. I have tried to go to places that I used to but it's not the same. I feel more out of place now and have been looking for sober friends for awhile. Not to be funny but I was told there's an app for that. I haven't found one that works yet. My sponsor told me to keep coming back and eventually everything will work out and I'll find the group that works for me. Best of luck and hope you find them too.

Yea I’m feeling this as well. I feel like I isolate myself from even trying to meet ppl since it’s so common.
Dam we all want to be your Friend but will there be room in your car on the way to tge party..

On a different note I am 35 and have never drank anything. I could definitely provide you stories about being and maintaining soberness.
I’m going through the exact same thing. It’s almost like no one has a personality without alcohol, or their to afraid to show it. I feel alone but I also need to make time to meet some new ppl.

But seriously, it is hard. I live in an area where the theme is "work hard, play hard" and it seems all the social activities revolve around alcohol. I did find some sober activity groups on meetup!
