I don't like AA, wish there was another program locally

Alphonse, you feeling better now? I understand you don’t like AA, that’s fine. Everything is still going to be ok. Got to figure out how to sit in those intense emotions that are uncomfortable. Once we learn how to feel those emotions we can go about our day without picking up that first drink. I’m glad you reached out for help. I’m here if you want to chat.

Glad you are feeling better. Always have a distraction close by.

Stay strong bro! Reach out to your support network and take a look at the videos and podcasts on the app. Remember this is for your health and personal growth.

Stay strong if you feel the same way tomorrow go for it but then you don’t it again. Everyday until you realize that your stronger than u think.

In all all honest I can tell you as a an addict, a meeting is a meeting AA, NA, CA (coke anonymous), OA (overeaters anonymous)...etc. They all follow the same basic 12 step program which all originated from AA. Even tho you may not like AA, the best you can do it still make the meeting. Not use that as an excuse. Addiction is addiction we should remember that always, regardless of the base. Everyone may work there own programs but we're still all. One in the same. Always keep in mind
The only reason this works is because it's one addict helping another addict and that is without parallel! Make a meeting man. AA or not, just make the meeting. Don't split hairs. The trick is by being honest, open minded and willing, and with these three, We are well on our way. Judging programs and deciding why you don't like a meeting may be honest but it takes out the effects of the latter two. Don't let biased opinions take you back out there. Good luck and stay strong. One day at a time!

Good idea. Get immersed in something. Call a sober friend. Keep reaching out on this app. So many feel your pain. You can do this. Take. one. hour. at. a. time. Before you know it, it will be time to go to bed. Do something physical, exercise, run, lift weights, whatever you like to do that is a physical activity for you.
Stay close to your higher power.

You’re in good hands here Alphonse. Tons of wisdom. Routines really helped me in the beginning no matter what having a daily plan kept me centered.

Hey man, I’m rooting for you and cheering you on for your sobriety! You can do this :pray:t3:

Thanks for the support guys, got yesterday behind me and having a better day today.

All we can do is take it day by day. You got through yesterday. Strong work. Keep it up.

So happy to hear that. That is why it is so awesome that each day is a new start.

Ive been struggling too. Early stages here. I’m trying to work steps and read the book to get myself where I need to be mentally. Meetings aren’t always an option but the book and my new journal are.

“I prayed two times in the morning,
I prayed two times at night,
I prayed two times in the afternoon,
It makes me feel all right.
I prayed two times in time of peace,
And two in time of war.
I prayed two times before I prayed two times,
And then I prayed two times more.”

Every time we are able to get threw a Craveing it makes us Stronger .. It's just a feeling and it will pass .. Granted time seems to move slower as you sit with it . a trick I learned is go buy half gallon tub ice cream and try to kill it ..
Your stomach won't like you much but your thoughts go there instead lol
