This time: I’m going to meetings. I don’t care if it feels awkward or whatever… as long as I’m in a place where I can seek help. I hope to learn and grow from AA and discover what a sober life has to offer.

yesss, my biggest regret is the lack of meetings I’ve been going to. This week I started up again and already feel better, it’s worth it.

Welcome back Ashli. I’m glad you keep coming back. It doesn’t stick the first time for anyone. We come into recovery as a last resort. We try every single other way that we can possibly think of. And when nothing else works, we finally, and begrudgingly, try something that has worked for someone else. And we find that together we can do things that we couldn’t do alone.
12 steps work for millions and millions, but it’s not the only game in town. SMART, Dharma, Tempest, The Luckiest Club, and so many more. Jenn up above is really good at suggesting some alternatives if you do decide to explore beyond AA. The best program of recovery is the one that guides you through the day safely and soberly.

Good for you. I went to my first meeting today and it was great to feel the support. Nothing else has worked for me, but this felt right. Hoping you have a similar experience.
