Well said.
I wouldnāt recommend those , big time trigger for me
Sarah whatever it takes to stay sober, do it,talk to someone,go to extra meetings if that works, whatever but drinking n/a beer is just a trigger to getting you started and most n/a beer has 0.5% alcohol in them alot claim to have none but don't fall for it,I've been clean and sober for over 6months now because living life clean and sober is the only way to live life every thing will open up for you and food taste better and life in general will be more fun than being drunk all the time you just have to cut out every trigger in your life that makes you want to drink,be real with yourself and don't be fooled, keep you're head up and keep going forward I wish you nothing but the best from 1 drinker to another stay strong......
Sarah-
- Donāt beat yourself up over a NA beer. It is a trigger for SOME but not everyone. I know people 20+ years sober that have one now and again and others that refuse to. You do you.
- Your going to hear A LOT of opinions about MANY issues on your recovery path. The key is that youāre honest with yourself and others and work your program to do what is best for your sobriety.
- Talk to your sponsor/ support system about what works for you, why and what makes sense moving forward.
Perfectly said .
Tbh I have NA beer pretty often. It doesnāt trigger me, it helps me live the social life style that Iāve always enjoyed about alcohol, without the actual alcohol. Just be honest with yourself. I donāt think thereās a need to change your sobriety date ! But itās up to you.
2 NA beers isnāt a big deal keep your original sober date and move on stay strong
Personally I loved imported beers. But NA just doent appeal to me. I'd have a kitty cocktail or virgin b!oody mary spicey. Everyone has different triggers..for me rn it's a Mexican restaurant
..sure loved the margaritas lol but the food trucks it is.
Iām starting this with, Iāve got three years and I drink NA beer and de-alcoholized wine often.
I always like the taste of the stuff.
I think it always helps to mention, Welches grape juice has more alcohol in it than NA wine. The stuff we give to kiddos.
If you think you did something to hold you back, then of course do whatever helps you, including changing your date. And if it triggers you, you know better now! But I wouldnāt change a thing. Keep on keeping on!
Each individual has their own path. NA beers are for some and not others. Personally I avoid them because I perpetuate similar behaviors that are part of the lifestyle I didnāt want anymore. It may sound silly but I drank them a couple times and it felt too familiar(same rate as when I actually drank) I donāt think you need to reset you date. Congrats on 90 days!
Thereās more alcohol in cheap hamburger buns. I think youāll be ok
Thank you everyone for the feedback! I decided to keep my sober date and probably won't drink them again soon but they aren't completely off the table in the future.
My dad has 30 years sober and has an N/A beer once in a while for the taste, and itās never triggered him.
You do not neee to reset your sobriety date. There is only one N/A beer that has absolutely zero alcohol; Budweiser Zero.
The other brands, even though they say 0.0% alcohol do actually have alcohol in them (typically 0.03%).. The other 0.5% do as well.
When I drank a 0.03% Heineken I could feel the effect after one.
Bud Zero is much, much safer and Iāll enjoy one around the lake when boating.
However, I began to drink them 5 days a week and ended up stopping for now. I also have 5 years off alcohol. Look into itā itās your decision to make just be open and communicate about it.
Heineken has 0.0 and I trusted that but I can say it led to my relapse. Even it has alcohol in it.
