Tomorrow will be hard

Tomorrow is going to be day one of detox. Does anyone have any recommendations for the first week. I’ve already cleared my phone and social media. I have a good sober network. But is there any other good ideas for me to do?

Do you have a sponsor? I would ask someone for guidance that has experience with this. The amount of alcohol you have been drinking has a significant difference , that in many cases can be life or death. I almost died trying to quit and I’ve met many others that the same happened. I didn’t know that I was addicted mentally but my body was Dependent on the alcohol. I started having seizures and was found on the floor. I don’t remember it. I just woke up in the hospital and that’s what happened to me. I got out and later started drinking again because I ran out of the meds they gave me. They only gave me enough for about 2 days. My sponsor had me cut my drinking by 1/2 every day until I went completely dry . After getting out of the hospital from seizures and almost dying, it worked. Best of luck my man. I hope it wasn’t as serious as my situation and that you get out of this. God bless brotha

I tried to keep my mind occupied by binge watching shows while I was detoxing. It helped me keep my mind off of everything else.

I detoxed at home it was rough and I had to work during it I have no time to go anywhere I own a farm and have a full time job. I also had zero medication which probably wasn’t the best situation. It’s not easy but worth it best of luck

I’m detoxing at home as well and I start a new job tomorrow morning and I’m trying to keep my mind occupied with things like hanging out with my wife and watching Hulu.

Connect with God, keep constantly praying. Keep busy, support from friends/family that know you wont be drinking. Listen to Elevation Church on Youtube. It helps me. Mainly just take it: one minute, hour and day at a time. You are healing, it will be a challenge but soo! Worth it! I am here if you want to talk.

Meditation, try Dawson Church's Ecomeditation on YouTube or basic mindful breathing. Meditation changes the way your brain works really fast. It has really helped me stay sober this time.

If you're detoxing from alcohol or benzos please have someone stay with you during your detox.

It’s not alcohol or benzodiazepines it’s meth.

Gotcha, I've never experienced meth detox, I'm sure it's no fun either. I just wanted to make sure that you had something in place if it was alcohol or benzos in case of potential seizures. Good luck dude! You can do it!

Meth

Are you doing a medically supervised detox? Or just yourself at home?

Just at home

Yeah been through that myself over 5 years ago. Sunshine helps bro believe or not. Although your not gonna feel like it try to walk around and get some exercise. A good multi vitamin and try to eat healthy, it helps. Go to meetings if you can either online or in person. Right now in person would be better.

I’ll hit some meetings and I’m trying to get back to the gym.

Just remember, if you stick with it, it’s going to get way better. It never gets easy, but it does get a whole lot easier. Meetings help me more than I can say. Stay in touch with people who understand what you’re going through. If you get cravings, pick up the phone before you pick up. Stay strong brother.
