I have been looking at getting a motorcycle I always wanted. I found one on Facebook market place and it needs my mechanical talents. It happens to have a cracked head. Well, I happen to have a complete engine for this same bike, same year, same everything.
I have felt a bit lonely for awhile and not doing much in my spare time. Now I have a fun project to work towards something that I can drive around in the fall colors that are beginning here.
A few days of an engine swap and off I go, enjoying my sober time.
Note to self, when I start feeling lonely, find something to do.
Nice bike what size engine
It is pretty old and a classic.
It is a 1994 Kawasaki zx6 600cc.
Also know as a Kawasaki Ninja.
Only 9800 miles on it and I remember many years ago looking at this same year on the showroom floor.
I have had bikes my whole life, just never had this specific year, make, or model.
I had purchased a no title bike for cheap a few years ago and could ultimately build a really fast go-kart... But it has been sitting.
Seen this one with a bad head for 700 and it was a no brainer. I have the exact engine for it, that runs fine. Country road cruising within a week.
Right on man! Mechanical work can be so peaceful (frustrating sometimes, but the accomplished feeling when the job is done and everything works is so great). Nice job on 31 months!
Nice bike
Classic crotch rocket. Ninjas are always cool. Sweet bike
Way to go!!!!
That’s dope, congrats on your sobriety!
Right on brother. It took a while for me after sobering up to feel it was ok to do something nice for myself. Still had that mindset that my whole life of using and drinking was selfish so I didn't deserve to do things for myself. Learned there is a balance there. Just took a bit for me to find it. Congrats on your bike and healthy decisions
Thanks. I am just like a kid in a candy store.
Thanks. I have been riding since I was 9 and I can carve corners with the best of them.
Thanks.
At one time is was... Sobriety humor... Just looking at things to keep me busy and looking forward to peace and serenity on two wheels.
Thanks. We deserve to look at our progress more than our past failures.
That’s awesome. Bikes are a lot of fun.
600 cc but it redlines at 13,000 rpm. A screamer
That is so awesome Ron. Congratulations have you ever ridden a motorcycle before?
I have been riding since I was 9 years old. 3 and 1/2 Briggs and Stratton putput, #35 chain, always falls off. I have had about 12 different bikes. My drag bike is a 2009 Gen two v max 1700, that puts out 200 hp to the rear tire. My best 1/4 mile was a 10.1 seconds at 136 mph. Just wanted to have a knee dragging Ninja. Riding a motorcycle and becoming one with it, is very peaceful.
I know the saying...it is not if you will go down, it is when you will go down. All my times going down we're on dirt bikes as a youth. It can still happen again, but I am a little wiser and have good control.
That is amazing. I had a GSXR 600 when I got clean sober I had three months sobriety down in Florida. In Florida, you do not have to wear a helmet. A lady blew a stop sign in front of me. I locked up the brakes. I close my eyes because I was getting ready to teebone her. When I opened up my eyes was behind her car on a endo. then I hit a curb and flip over and over. I landed 75 feet from impact. I had to have 13 staples in my head
Yeah, it sucks when you know you are going to bounce and hope for the best possible outcome.
