Unless the poster asks or says they welcome religious advice, DO. NOT. USE. SOMEONE'S BAD. DAY / HARD. LIFE. TO. PROSELYTIZE. Religion has its place for some people, but do not assume it is welcome.

I'm a Christian, and I'm telling you now it's predatory.

I agree, those types turn many people away from good programs.

I’ve not seen a lot of that on here.

What exactly is this post about?
I don’t think I clearly understand it. :face_with_monocle:

The higher power I lean into in my 12 step program is one that I serve, not one that I worship.

Religion plays almost no role in my life, yet I pray daily.

It is often difficult for people to see the difference and I’ve just stopped caring. This program works for me. And if anyone wants to learn what I do, I’ll teach them.

Agreed. So many messages get lost in translation when framed in a religious way.

Bill W. Wrote in the big book, as a suggestion, to look at what religious people are saying. I’m doing just. I’m asking questions. I’m learning the truth. It’s helping me on my spiritual path.
If we are being completely honest with ourselves nothing on this site will offend us. An honest program will use the serenity prayer to over come any situation. Religious or not AA works for me. Church helps me. If you want what I have and are willing to go to any lengths to get it, I’m here to help you. One must remember it’s your journey and everything I say is only a suggestion. You must find yourself on this path. Stay in your lane. It’s easy to walk in everyone else’s lane. Clean up your lane and walk through your steps. Have a blessed day my friends. It’s a simple program.

Thank you shawn! What I have is in the big book of Alcoholics Anonymous. I’d be more then happy to teach you what I was free taught. I’m here to help. To be of service.

I think what he’s saying is that there are desperate people coming to this app or meetings seeking help and some peoples first response is to pray. I am sure it is well intended but that’s probably not going to help their immediate issues (any faith takes time) and turns some people off so much they don’t seek help.

My faith in the 12 step program is based in the results. For me, faith is an acceptance that I don’t have all the answers. Religion is me accepting someone else’s answers as truth.
