Well it’s day 1 again but it’s almost 8pm and I’m snowed in. I’m determined to do this this time. No more relapses. I have to dedicate myself to sobriety. Just taking it one day at a time. One hour at a time. I’m strong enough to do this. I’ve come so close so many times. I have so much to live for. It’s time to take my life back.
Standing here with you Panda, you can do this, take it a moment at a time. Take in all the suggestions, and push off from here.
Thanks for all the advice! I’m staying positive
As Jenn suggested Panda, I have been taking it all moment by moment. Many sober streaks, many relapses. Important aspect being you are showing up, hope you feel proud! Sweet photo of you, your animal companion. Rooting for you and this community, Panda! ( And moi:)…
Your doggie is so adorable! You can do this and we are here for you
you are not alone!
Mind over matter you can beat this
Curious... did drinking make things better?
We're things any different this time?
Definitely not. It was such a stupid choice. I blacked out. And of course did a bunch of embarrassing things. Messed up my fiancé’s schedule. I was a wreck. Detoxed overnight. Thankfully had leftover Librium from my last relapse. I spent all day today just resting and recovering. My whole body hurts. I know it’s going to get better
Hopefully I’ll be able to go tomorrow. We got hit hard in Illinois. But maybe it’ll clear up. I did jump into some zoom meetings for now
you got this
Well I officially made it through the day thank you everyone for the support. Looking forward to a bright tomorrow
How about just getting through today, when the night fall comes today.. post another picture of you and your
With a update of your guys day

Friday it will start clearing up..
I hope

Addiction is always trying to convince us that this time everything will be okay. I call it the "Big Lie." Next time you have a desire to pick up, and you will, you have to play the scene all the way forward and remember the last time that you got drunk.
You might feel good for a little while but sooner or later when you wake up, if you wake up at all you're going to be right back where you are at that moment having to deal with everything in life all over again. I highly recommend that you try to get some numbers of people that have been sober for a long time.
Don't worry if you don't have anything in common with them. They have been sober for a long time and understand what you're up against. You need people that you can talk with. It gets better if you don't pick up the first drink and you go to some meetings.
For the record; I too made the same mistake with almost 9 years of sobriety. It cost me three years of being out there. It was a stupid mistake that I will never forget. Now I'm coming up on eight years in July. You can do this but you have to start right where you're at at this moment. Remember, it's a big fat lie!
Thank you so much for the advice. Today is definitely really hard. I’ve been fighting the urge constantly
Going to meetings really, really helps. It's in those meetings where we learn little tips and tricks of how people stay sober. You can make a few new sober friends along the way too. This is probably the hardest thing you will ever do in your life so it is wise to not go it alone.
You can go either to the Google Play store or the Apple Store and you can download an app called "Meeting Guide."
It's a great free app to help you find meetings all across the country. All kinds of meetings too. You can find online meetings, speaker meetings, discussion meetings, etc.
Great app.
One more thing I forgot to mention. You can mix yourself some orange juice and honey. People who are just coming off of alcohol crave sweets and they are a great way to curb your alcohol cravings. I don't recommend just any kind of sweets because sweets really aren't good for you. But if you don't have honey and OJ when cravings arise, any sugar will do. What's important is that you don't pick up the first drink.
It's just a temporary fix until you lose the obsession to drink.
Let me know if you have any questions. I relapsed many, many times before I finally got sober so I've been around this thing for a while.
The one silver lining to covid is everything is online now, especially meetings
So true! I recall those three am cold sweats of dread!!!
Never give up!
