What are some new or old hobbies you have picked up since getting sober?

I get that. I work from home and I am a momma. I think that is one thing I have trouble with is all the cleaning and cooking it starts feeling like Groundhog Day. One reason I want to try different things. The cooking and cleaning will be there tomorrow. Take some time and let that shiz go every now and then.

Oooo what is Pickleball that’s a new one. Gonna check that out too. Thanks!!

You are so right. Just being present is everything.

Love it! I use to love to skate. Good idea! Thank u

video games, both old classic rpgs of immersive stories (chrono trigger, FF3, super mario rpg to name a few) along with competitive modern ones (very sweaty, scream at the screen and team: ranked in apex legends). snowboarding in the winter, swimming in the summer. making probiotics sodas (hot tip: kombucha after 7 days converts all traces of alcohol into vinegar). playing music: piano, acoustic, electric, cahone..cateloguing new worship lead sheets. hoping to make enough space to house two turntables and get mixing again. shows: currently deep diving star trek the animated series in increase my nerd references.

Lol, I use the ground hog day analogy often to describe my life:rofl: sorry I couldn’t help. If you find something cool to do let me know:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::call_me_hand:t3::sunglasses:

I used to do everything with a glass of wine. Cleaning, showering, doing the laundry, etc. you name it I had a drink. Newly in recovery it was hard for me to do the basic chores without getting triggered. My sponsor once told me….do your chores or even daily routines backwards. Sounds silly right? Well…. It worked. If I brushed my teeth right handed, I switched to my left…trying making the bed with one hand. Lol. Silly things to distract my THOUGHTS. This is a disease of the mind. Change your thinking and things will change.

You did help. I appreciate you reminding me that a walk with my dog is always so calming. Paint by numbers is something I like too. Cheap and unlike regular art ( I am actually an artist when I want to be. Another thing I thought I needed to be high to find my groove) it’s just more concentrating on just slapping paint on numbers and staying in the lines. It’s relaxing.

Woodworking is something I would love to learn but I’m terrified of saws. :joy:

Thrash 4 sure

I started going to comedy shows in sobriety and I met some great people. I got into fitness, quit smoking and binge eating, I started going to concerts (a lot of my favorite ‘90s bands are having “anniversary” tours), I got back into writing.

I found out I love video games myself several years ago. :joy: Skyrim mostly. I love it. Totally takes your mind off of everything in a good way.
