What is everyone’s thoughts on mindful drinking?

I think we all tried to be “mindful” of our drinking… if that’s something you can do this isn’t the app for you. Hats off to the alcoholic that can mindfully drink. Ive yet to meet or hear of one.

I think Ava said it perfectly well. No judgement at all. If you are thinking that way, then I assume you haven’t experienced the complete insanity and unmanageability that most of us had to go thru. I’m sure I thought the same way many years ago before my disease progressed and I learned utter defeat. Part of me thinks you should try it if that’s what you’re thinking. OTOH, be careful :peace_symbol:

Lol. My mind gets unmindful when drinking.

My history has shown that I'm not able to drink mindfully for extended periods of time without my drinking becoming mindless. And the consequences of my mindless drinking are such that it is simply not worth it to try it again.

My problem always was I didn’t mind drinking. And that led me down a road of bad decisions, hurting people, hurting myself, isolation, etc…

You mean like, drinking water?

Different for everyone, I’d say. Do what works for you. Personally, I’m not sure I could and don’t really want to try it out right now.

If most of us could engage in mindful drinking we wouldn't need sobriety. I'm not here because I don't want to stop once I start...I'm here because I can't stop.

These are some of the ways we tried to prove to ourselves that we are not alcoholics

I'm with Amanda. What is mindful drinking? Please explain!

Coming from an alcoholic, I think mindful drinking is a bunch of junk. Like others have said, one either doesn’t have a “drinking problem” or it’s an excuse to not be honest with yourself. Take it as you wish.

The mind is where the addiction exists, so if you’re relying on mindfulness to regulate drinking, I think that’s a vicious circle.

The only thing on my mind with drinking is one is too many and a thousand is never enough. Be carful with those thoughts of “mindful drinking”

Mindful drinking works, until the time that it doesn’t, imo. Is it worth the risk? Not for me

Lots of people can be mindful drinker, but for some of us that isn’t an option.
