The promises! I’m just over a year sober, and financial security has been a huge plus. I’m a single mom working part time, and about to move out of my mom’s into an apartment with just myself and my son. A year ago this seemed TOTALLY unreachable

I messed my do finances up bad from all the problems i was having plus the alcohol consumption

I concur w/ what becks stated. It's almost like we exume this toxic self slowly allowing the brightness we've held inside to begin to shine - :cheese:-y but true...

My skin cleared up, eyes got brighter, lost 20 pounds, my joints don’t hurt as much… financially way better off, my family trusts me now… I could continue to list off the better.

That’s is amazing , happy for you all

I always tell people not to place expectations on life or your recovery. Sometimes things don't seem to be getting better fast enough and so we say to ourselves, I may as well drink.

Having said that,

Check out the promises in the AA Big Book on pages 83-84.

Got my family back.

Finances did a 180. Of course I had to set out to learn about financial matters in order to make the right changes.

Getting rid of anything toxic to the body is going to reap healthier outside appearances.

No blackouts.

No fear the next morning wondering where I am and how I got here. (Especially jail)

No chance of DUI.

The other thing is,
There's a question we ask in AA. What do you get when you get a horse thief sober?

A sober horse thief!

Drinking was but a symptom of our problem. We had to get down to causes and conditions.

The results are contingent upon the actions that WE take and the changes that WE make.

Clarity of thought, confidence and contentment, self-worth, financial and other problems decrease, and physical well being returns.

Well i can’t wait , I’m having major brain fog.

I know it will take time . I got the DUI. Had the blackouts, messed up my health ( stomach). I’m excited to see the changes. I know they are coming

In addition to the things already mentioned, I would say coping skills. We all know every day is not going to be a good day, we don't live in sunshine and rainbows 24/7. When life throws harder times at me, I now have confidence that I will not just get through, but handle to the best of my ability without turning toward the bottle. I face my feelings, know what is in and out of my control, know how to process events that happen in life. I am consistently learning and growing

My energy level has improved. I don’t throw up bile anymore. Zero blackouts. No more cringing when I look at my phone (except for the memories in Timehop & Facebook wtheckwas I fricken posting 10 years ago) I currently have a blow and go in my car which sucks, but I’m taking it day by day and soonish it will be gone. My skin is way better looking. I’m not bloated anymore and my face isn’t as puffy.

Your skin will be beautiful. Your mind will be quiet enough to get stuff done. Your hair will also look beautiful. Your eyes will be brighter. Attitude change that is usually awesome. Peace. Hope. Dreams. Anxiety lessens. Waking up sober is pretty cool! You will be in your own corner taking care of business. Life really opens up

I don’t hate myself. I don’t live in the drink, blackout, shame, regret, drink cycle anymore. People like me for me. Or they don’t. But I don’t pretend to be some bland character living solely to not disappoint others.

I haven’t gotten arrested or fired since I stopped drinking. My bills are paid. My kids tell me they miss me and mean it.

I look better. I feel better. I can brush my teeth without dry heaving or vomiting. I’m not worried about soiling myself or my bed anymore. I remember more than the beginning of movies. I read books. I’ve lost anxiety and depression. I have hobbies.

I go out with people and don’t worry about my consumption.

I’m dating someone who wouldn’t have even looked at me 3 years ago.

I am trying to think of anything in my life that hasn’t gotten better since I stopped drinking and entered recovery ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹ but I’m drawing a blank. Honestly.
