Why is sober dating so fckin hard? Lol
so over it
It's hard to have "friends" who don't drink or at least won't drink once to hang out. I can only imagine how rough it is trying to be in a relationship.
Facts lol It’s really annoying imma create a real sober dating app lol
Most people don't feel comfortable in their own skin so they take away the pressure of presentation by chemicals or other manners of exhibiting confidence whether it be real or just courage and over compensation to make up for character defects or insecurities. The main reason why sober dating is so hard whether that be getting to know people as friends or lovers or anything else is we see that the other person's razzmatazz doesn't work because we don't have time for that stuff anymore.
From my perspective, sober dating is the same as non-sober dating. It’s hard. People have lots of options these days with social media and dating apps so there always appears to be something else out there. For me, I try not to take anything personal anymore and focus on control what I can control. At some point, when you probably least expect it, you’ll find someone who understands and supports you for you. Keep your head up. God is great. Life is great!
Sober dating sucks. You tell people you’re sober, they are encouraging and positive as they back away from you slowly.
At first I thought it important to share, now I just say I don’t drink and don’t elaborate unless asked.

this is so real
Oh man I don’t wanna hear that! Lol I’m not looking to date now but I’ve been wondering what it’ll be like sober. On top of that, my last relationship lasted 6 years so it’s been a while
Where do you even go to meet people?
This is something that used to really stress me out are used to freak out with on things like what if I go on vacation can I never have a piña colada again meanwhile I didn’t have a vacation even booked, Will I ever be able to find a guy that Sober Too even though I wasn’t looking today yet. It’s recommended you don’t date your first year in sobriety and I think if you’re not in a relationship that it’s a valid rule because you’re going to have so many ups and downs and it’s important that you take the time to really work on you so you can live an awesome life without addiction. That being said after working on myself and feeling comfortable with my sobriety that it doesn’t bother me if someone drinks as long as they’re not drinking on a regular basis. Drinking‘s everywhere so the only way really for me to avoid it would be to stay home 24 hours a day and that’s not why I got sober. Now my addiction was not alcohol but definitely played a role and my partner knows what I went through and in the beginning was very kind and would ask me if it bothered me or if I wanted him to never drink again and I said no I didn’t care that as long as it wasn’t affecting his life my life that he is a grown man and he can do whatever he wants. Now on the other side one of the first relationships I was in being sober and hadn’t really worked on myself too much I had asked the person to not drink at least in front of me and looking back it was unfair for me to do because it was my problem not his and I feel like it ultimately ruined the relationship due to resentment or than maybe I wasn’t included in some things but either way finding somebody that is sober yeah could be much easier but the reality is alcohol is everywhere so it can’t be a reason to stop doing things or to not date someone you truly love. Also recovery is about you I don’t ever recommend to put yourself in a situation where it could jeopardize your sobriety
Also there are plenty of people that don’t drink That are not addicts I know we think everyone does because who we have hung around with but there’s plenty of people out there. Once you have got some good clean time in and your living the life you always wanted then the people you surround yourself with will be very different then now and dating won’t be an issue. To be honest I’d have a harder time if I was still doing herion like who would want to date me like that
Oh also there is a dating section on this app i just noticed so could be helpful to u
I had no problems getting dates when I was drinking. Now that I’m sober, nobody is interested. So strange because I am a way better person now than I was then.
Same… so much. And at 50 I’m looking for a partner, not just a date. Although it’s lonely, I’ve been sober 2.5 years… worth it!
I am 2.5 year sober and have been ready for a year or so to meet someone. I have no F’n idea either. My AA meetings are 90% guys, obviously not bars, I don’t attend a church, online has been my only luck and that is a S***t show. I think you just need to be content in your recovery and wait for it. I’m still trying to getting involved in more social community activities, but after 30 years of use, I’m a little out of place. Best wishes. There’s worse things than being single, I could be an active addict again.
If you do I would sign up! Everyone wants to meet for a drink.
It isn’t!
I read somewhere that you just have to go out and do things you enjoy doing and maybe there will be someone doing the same so you already have something in common. Of the 5 years I’ve been sober I’ve been single 6 months, not sure I want a relationship but it would be fun to have someone to go places with. In the past I always met men in bars so that scene is over, I might go to a dance hall because I do like to dance. I think you just have to find new places to go, bowling, museums, farmers markets, coffee shops, etc. I’m not quite ready to start but I’m thinking about more then I have in the past, I guess it’s something you just know when the time comes
I hope this helps, Recovery is like a healing process. First you cast the broken part to restrict its movement. Then once it's strong enough to enter physical therapy the cast is removed and the part is given some freedom but under guidance and limits for caution against reinjuring said part. Once it is healed then it may be safe to be completely free but again with caution and care because it may be susceptible to injury again. Make sense?
And we are not push overs .and we have changed .people sometimes see that.
Not looking forward to that part yet. Dating a narcissist during active addiction. Started a person in recovery while I was still using and he gave me hope that recovery is possible. Then what did I do.....I destroyed that relationship cause I suffer from C PTSD into of addiction. God help me when I am ready to date again. Cause i want a healthy happy relationship one day but first I have to focus on getting better.
