Workout motivation

So I know a lot of you have gotten back into the gym, and I’m trying to create that habit but have no motivation whatsoever to do so. What is your motivation to work out?

To be the best version of myself. When I was drinking and drugging I could care less about my health. Now that I’m sober it’s time to care and see how far I can take it. :pray:t3: start off slow … you don’t have to go 100mph

What are your options for working out currently? There are some great options on-line if you can’t get to a gym. Let me know if I can send you info.

I can only workout at home with no equipment. I did P90X 11 years ago after I had my daughter and lost 66 pounds doing it but it was soooo intense. I don’t want to go that hard again.

Do you like the idea of YouTube videos for Yoga or cardio/weight/interval training? All free stuff.

Look up Tracy Steen on YouTube. She’s a 50-year-old Canadian woman who has been training people for years. She has thousands of videos that you can choose from. You can start as a beginner and work up that’s what’s so good about her YouTube channel you have to pick what you wanna do you can do 10 minute videos 30 minute videos 40 minute videos 60 minute videos. Whatever you feel like you’re up for, you can get a variety of handweights and what time into your program but everything she does. You can do at home.

Then there’s “Yoga with Adrienne” on YouTube. Same idea, she starts out slow for beginners!

All free!

Start slow, pick beginner stuff. Take days off. Pick up your intensity when you feel ready and need more? Nobody is watching or judging, so it’s awesome.

What is your goal/reason for working out? What are you trying to achieve by doing so?

I had to break down and hire a trainer. Knowing he is there waiting for me at a certain time really helps.

For a long time I scheduled my workouts on my calendar with alerts (and didn't go) until I just eventually got up and went to the gym. It's hard to develop the habit but once you have it it's easier to maintain. But it's also easy to lose the motivation if you get in the habit of skipping workouts.

Not being fat lol and fitting into new clothes helps too.

Motivation? Hmmm…..most days I’m not actually motivated to workout. I have lost a lot of people including three parents to bad lifestyle practices. Drinking, smoking, not using their bodies. I have just decided that a workout is as much a part of my day and life as a shower and brushing my teeth. I need to do it and be done with it so I can have a productive day. And hopefully in the long run that creates longevity and if not, I feel my best each day for making the choice to workout. I think it’s just a mindset shift

My goal for working out is to lose some weight that I have put on due to having a chronic illness. I’m finally starting to feel better health wise and want my self esteem to increase.

This is a fantastic practice.

I think someone else mentioned, start slow and work up to it. Don't try to go run 10 miles and think you're gonna be back at it again. Make a short, attainable plan and raise it as you feel comfortable. If you hit it hard right out of the gate, it'll be months before you come back to it.
